The New York Times has a terrific story today about the long-running feud between heart surgeons Denton Cooley and Michael DeBakey, which started in 1969 when Cooley took an artificial heart from the DeBakey’s lab and implanted it in a patient. Now Cooley, 87, and DeBakey, 99, have made up.

Texas Monthly Editor Evan Smith announced today on his blog that he’s hired Eileen Smith (no relation) as the first editor of the magazine’s website, TexasMonthly.com.

Property Crime Map on Statesman.com

There’s a nice interactive feature on Statesman.com that lets you search the Austin Police Department’s records for any property crime reported in 2006. There’s a great commercial for EA Sports NCAA 08 college football game featuring a UT fan by the name of Lee Jennings. But Burnt Orange Nation has discovered that “Lee” is actually aspiring actor Toby Meuli, a Baylor grad now living in Los Angeles.
