Waiting for Chrome, Waiting for Django

Google stirred up the technology world over the Labor Day weekend by leaking an early look at its new open source browser, Google Chrome, which is set to be released in a Windows beta version today.

It’s a fascinating move by Google, aimed not just at the web, but more likely at the fast-emerging mobile web.

While most of the technology blogs are anticipating that first download of Google Chrome, I’m looking forward to something else: the release this week of Django 1.0. I played with Django, a way to build web applications quickly and elegantly, earlier this year, and see some intriguing potential there, especially in the local news space.
