Great story on a historic feud — with a UT hook
The New York Times has a terrific story today about the long-running feud between heart surgeons Denton Cooley and Michael DeBakey, which started in 1969 when Cooley took an artificial heart from the DeBakey’s lab and implanted it in a patient. Now Cooley, 87, and DeBakey, 99, have made up.
Interestingly, Dr. Cooley played basketball at the University of Texas and the school’s basketball practice facility is the swanky Denton A. Cooley Pavilion.
