Austin Chronicle Up For Three AltWeekly Awards
The finalists of the 2007 AltWeekly Awards were announced last week, with the Austin Chronicle taking in three nominations.
The team of Karen Barry, Cassidy Frazier, Dan Hardick, Erin Collier and Aubrey Edwards were nominated in the newly created Ad Design category for their “Trade Up” campaign. Kevin Brass’ Media Watch columns (“Snoring Out Loud,” “KUT By the Numbers,” “Are You Being Served?”) are among the finalists in the Media Reporting/Criticism category. And the Chronicle’s website staff pulled in a nomination for best Website Content Feature for “Am I McMansion or Not?”.
The Texas Observer was nominated in two categories: in Arts Criticism for Steven G. Kellman’s stories (“Levy Does America,” “Dissenting from the Work Ethic,” “Cormac McCarthy Imagines the End”) and in Cover Design for Matt Omohundro’s work (”The Immigration Issue,” “Overrated,” “Guber-Land”).
This is the 12th year of the writing, design, and web awards for the 125 papers that belong to the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies.
