Two Reports on the State of the Statesman
Two recent reports combine to give a look into how the landscape has been changing for newspapers.
First, Scarborough Research issued a report measuring the print, website, and combined (print and online) weekly audiences in 74 local markets. The Statesman got high marks in this report, tying the Washington Post in Weekly Website Audience, with 21 percent of adults in the market reporting a visit to the website in the past week.
The Statesman also ranked 12th nationally in Weekly Print Audience, where 62 percent of adults saying they had read the paper in the past week. The Integrated Newspaper Audience, a combined website/print edition score, was 68% for the Statesman, good for 8th in the country.
On the other hand, early reports are that the Statesman is among a group of papers whose overall daily circulation for the six months ending March 2007 have dropped 5.0% or more.
