Staci Kramer at paidContent.org reports that Pluck, an Austin company, is behind many of the social media features highlighted in the upcoming redesign of the USA Today site.
In December, Pluck announced that USA Today had joined its BlogBurst syndication network, which makes blog content available to publishers.
Jeff Jarvis got a sneak preview of the new site and even posted a few images:
This last one (personal page) is where Pluck contributes greatly, powering a personalized page that includes a friends list, tracks comments you’ve left on the site, and provides quick access to the discussion forums you’re interested in.
USAToday.com’s new design is reportedly set to launch on Saturday (March 3).

It’s pretty week when the headline describes Iraq and the cover photo is a California Department of Forestry firefighter deploying resources on a wildland fire. The caption and photo are confusing.
Ahh, those Journalism majors.
