Toddy Burton has a great story in this week’s issue of the Austin Chronicle about Despair.com, the Austin-based company that specializes in demotivation — an antidote to those dare-to-dream, “inspirational” posters and mugs that adorn offices all around you.
After receiving a few demotivational items (calendar and post-its) for Christmas, I was surprised to learn the company was based in Austin. (Among my favorites: A photo of a sinking ship with the headline: MISTAKES: It Could Be That The Purpose of Your Life Is Only to Serve as a Warning to Others.) The story doesn’t mention the company’s finances, other to say that it’s been on a “steady incline” since 1998.
For the truly despairing, you can subscribe to the company’s audio or video podcasts via iTunes.
