Six-year-old Spencer Sartin of Austin shares the cover photo of this week’s Sports Illustrated with Lance Armstrong. The story by Austin Murphy focuses on Armstrong’s post-cycling career and his efforts to get increased funding for cancer research.
Spencer’s dad, Rob Sartin, shares more of the story behind the story and the cover shoot on his blog. Last summer, Rob participated our TourWatch event, a local podcasting party held at Central Market.
Try reading Rob’s blog without getting chills from his story and without coming away with great admiration for him and his son. Then head to the Lance Armstrong Foundation website and help with Spencer’s effort to raise money this year for the LAF.

I fully support disease research foundations and it’s great to see such a major campaign for cancer. It’s not uncommon to see fund-drives for diseases that kill a few thousand people a year while major diseases like heart disease and cancer. Cancer is currently responsible for 25% of all deaths.
